Increasing health and social justice in Guatemala
Row- by- Row’s longest international partnership is with Educacion y Desarollo, Antigua, Guatemala.
We have been following the inspirational lead of Fredy Maldonado in Guatemala since 2007. Over the years we have worked together for the poverty stricken and disenfranchised indigenous people in a country still recovering in many ways from a 40 year civil war.
Fredy’s work can be of an immediate or long term nature, as his organization is flexible enough to deal with acute needs (such as the shortage of firefighting equipment after the volcanic eruption of 2018) or more long term issues of food security and fresh water.
Our most recent efforts in the villages around Antigua include a “new” pickup truck to transport gleaned vegetables from the capital, 5 life saving defibrillators for the local fire stations, and the distribution of 925 portable water filters for use by families when they are away from home.
Big shout out of THANKS! to Maximo Nivel in La Antigua, Guatemala. They provide an unforgetable hands-on volunteer experience and supply many volunteers to Fredy Maldonado and Row-By-Row for our food security work in the villages around Antigua. We're all in this together. You may want to look into their programs today and plan a volunteer adventure with Fredy, Maximo Nivel, and Row-by-Row!
